Daresbury provides some of the
world's leading instrumentation, detector and advanced engineering
expertise. A key focus of this activity is devising new
methods of detection and seeking practicable market
applications.
There has been an average of 200 highly trained professionals
working in this area for over four decades, giving Daresbury a pool
of knowledge in this area that is competitive with anywhere in the
world.
Engineering Technology
The Engineering Technology Centre is responsible
for the Project Management of large scale engineering projects for
STFC e.g. work on Particle Trackers or Gravity Wave experiments.
This includes both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from
design right through to installation, and is supported by a wealth
of specialist facilities and expertise.
