Accelerator Science
There are around one hundred scientists and engineers working in the Cockcroft Institute in the area of accelerator science and technology at Daresbury in a collaborative venture between the STFC and the Universities of Lancaster, Liverpool and Manchester, with half of these being from STFC and half from the universities.
This critical mass connects to a world wide network of tens of thousands working in accelerator science.
It is the intention of the Cockcroft Institute to grow the numbers of personnel working on accelerator science in the near future through a development of its ASTeC and other university groups and in collaboration with the SRS groups, thereby augmenting Daresbury’s existing total of some 10,000 person years experience in this area.
