Daresbury Laboratory runs CCP4 (Collaborative Computational Project 4), a national collaboration of computer scientists looking at molecular modelling. It is therefore the UK hub for the development and maintenance of a suite of molecular simulation software.
Indeed each of the UK’s major collaborative computational projects has a base at Daresbury where code is written and tested and where the hardware exists to run it.
There are over 14,000 registered users of the Daresbury Laboratory facilities and it has links with every research university in the UK.
