HPCx
HPCx is operated by Daresbury Laboratory and University of Edinburgh and is funded by the UK Research Councils.
It is the first terascale research capability computing facility in the UK.
Sited at Daresbury since October 2002, it is also the largest academic HEC facility in Europe and the 2nd largest in
the world.
It is designed for the most demanding integrated simulations and codes that scale to 100s or 1000s of
processors, comprising:
- 2560 IBM Power5 processors
- 12.9 Tflop/s sustained on Linpack
- 5.12 TB memory
- Low-latency high-bandwidth network
