Project Management Expertise

Home to large scale scientific facilities based at the Daresbury Laboratory and the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory – both now part of the Daresbury and Harwell Science & Innovation Campuses respectively,  STFC has built up a multi-million pound project management expertise, through its long history of dealing with particle accelerator and detector technology projects.  STFC staff based at each site co-manage these facilities.

A prime example has been the Synchrotron Radiation Source (SRS) at Daresbury which was followed by the Diamond Light Source synchrotron facility at Harwell with a Phase I investment of £260 million. 

STFC sources industrial project management expertise with the ability to transfer to large scale scientific projects.  In the UK there is a high quality pool of such expertise poised to develop the large scale projects planned by the STFC.
