Daresbury Science & Innovation Campus
Daresbury Science & Innovation Campus (Daresbury SIC) is
world class location for high-tech business and leading edge
science. It provides a unique environment for innovation and
business growth, with knowledge sharing, collaboration and
networking.
The campus is home to the ground-breaking Daresbury Laboratory
and the Cockcroft Institute as well as 100 high-tech companies in
areas such as advanced engineering, biomedical technologies,
renewable energy solutions and digital, ICT and mobile
technologies.
The Campus was originally established in 2006. However in
December 2010 a new joint-venture company was created to spearhead
the longer-term development of the Campus. Partners in the JV
company are the Science and Technology Facilities Council
(STFC), Halton Borough Council and
Langtree.
"You have got a brilliant collaboration here of
government-sponsored science, university-sponsored science,
defence-industry science, health science, but also a thriving
private sector…... ……. Here is a successful model, here is great
collaboration between scientists and businesses, here is something
to build on and an Enterprise Zone can make Daresbury even more
successful in the future than it has been today."
The Rt Hon David Cameron MP, Prime Minister, August
2011
