Daresbury SIC recognises its importance to the region as a magnet for new technological ideas and, in turn, a centre for new employment opportunities.
Engagement with the wider community is also important and, through initiatives such as PUSET (Public Understanding of Science, Engineering and Technology) and Science & Society, STFC has attempted to engender trust in and understanding of scientific developments.
Along with its Campus partners, the NWDA and Halton Borough Council, STFC hopes to create a centre of excellence for science and innovation that will develop the scientific innovators and technological entrepreneurs of the future.
Daresbury Laboratory has the largest scientific data archive in the UK and provides the scientific data resource for National Digital Curation Centre.
