Lancaster University
As a partner in the Daresbury Science & Innovation Campus, Lancaster University has recently invested over £2 million in infrastructure and staff to directly support work at the Daresbury campus.
One major outcome of this is the collaboration between Lancaster University, Daresbury SIC and the University of Liverpool on a platform bid to establish an electronics design group on the campus, specifically for the purpose of advanced nuclear instrumentation design.
Further engineering collaborations with the Cockcroft Institute are investigating the use of macroscopic photonic band gap structures – research which will have major implications for the vacuum electronics industry.
Lancaster University is also developing strategic relationships with international companies for world-class research delivered by NWDA supported centres of excellence, in areas such as IT (InfoLab21), the environment (Lancaster Environment Centre) and management (Lancaster Leadership Centre).
