Daresbury SIC is a natural, neutral location for universities to
engage in multi-partner collaborations. This is already evidenced
on Campus through the Cockcroft Institute (partnership in
accelerator science technology between the universities of
Lancaster, Liverpool & Manchester with STFC), IDEAS at
Daresbury (partnership between business/management schools of
Lancaster, Liverpool and Manchester) and most recently the Virtual
Engineering Centre

The Technology Gateway Centres (eg Hartree Centre - National
Centre for high performance computing, modelling & simulation)
will build on this collaborative model involving not only a
spectrum of universities from across the UK but also key corporates
and government departments
